So…I brought in the New Year cleaning out my closet. No skeletons, just music. I lived in Los Angeles back in late 2004 through 2006. I haven’t been back since I left. But as I type this, I’m back. And I “found” a box of my old stuff. In it I found a CD with an unreleased song on it. I’ve been Kool-Aid smiling since.
I might be my biggest fan. I like listening to myself. LOL. I keep smiling because I can’t help but reminisce where my mind was when I spit this flow. And I’m proud because it’s 6 YEARS LATER and I’m still on the same stuff. Spittin slick and spittin truth. Entertaining and Motivating. Wow. That’s crazy.
An interesting fact about this song is that I don’t know remember the young lady featured on it. My bad. If you’re out there and you read this…Holla at me! What I do recall is the talented Levester White, the producer of the song, called me one evening and was like, “Hey, come by the studio.” I did and this song is what happened. As me an ol girl vibed, we decided the motivation behind the song would be Psalms 40. Personally, I focused on verses 1-3 which summed up say…I was going through the drama but God came through and showed me love. And now that I’m good, I got a new song to sing. A song of success. A song of praise. And that night I was in the studio, My God Gave Me A Song. Straight of the top. No pen, no pad. Just me in the vocal recording booth spittin from the Spirit. I guess I went green along time ago.
